Classical studies is the study of the people, places, and events of the classical world and how they influence the modern world.  At Level 2, Classical Studies is an introduction to the ancient worlds of the Greeks and the Romans. Through the mythology of the gods and goddesses and the archeological evidence which remains, students will experience this course through reading, writing and visual sources from the ancient world. Students will learn about the Greek Hero Achilles and his role in the Trojan War as seen in The Iliad and on Greek vases.  They will also investigate the eruption of Mt Vesuvius and discover the hidden truths about Roman life in Pompeii. 

Pre-requisites

Prior study of another Senior Social Science subject is advantageous but not essential. Level 1 literacy highly recommended.
