This is a Unit Standard course.
Catering and Hospitality offers a unique opportunity for students to develop their knowledge and extend their skills within hospitality and catering in a vocational context. It is a suitable qualification for those who want an industry recognised background in this area and for those who wish to progress to further education or to work in the industry. It is expected that students will be involved in competition work. It is anticipated that a further Unit Standard will be completed at WINTEC worth 4 credits.
Some areas of study include:
- Food and beverage
- Knowledge of culinary products and terms
- Nutrition and planning meals for the industry
- Prepare and cook pickles, chutneys and preserves
Pre-requisites
Entry is dependent upon achieving the Level 2 Catering and Hospitality course. A student without this background who has a desire to work in the catering and hospitality industry may be accepted after a successful interview with the Leader of Learning. Students also need to complete and achieve US 167 Practice Food Safety Methods Level 2.
