Course Description

Music is a fundamental form of expression, both personal and cultural.
Students will choose up top 20 credits. They will choose a personalised program which will be a combination of the standards offered below.
Standards offered include Performance |Solo (8 Credits) , Group (4 Credits), 2nd Instrument (4 Credits), Composition (8 Credits), Songwriting (8 Credits), Arrangement (4 Credits), Research (6 Credits), Music Technology (4-8 credits), Analyse a Substantial Work (4 Credits), Examine the Context of a Substantial Work (4 Credits), Harmonic and Tonal Analysis (4 Credits External)
Please note: All those undertaking the performance standards must do so in front of an approved audience. All performance students must be having music lessons in the ITM scheme or with a private tutor.
Entry to the course is at the discretion of the TIC.
Pre-requisites
Performance experience on an instrument of your choice (voice is an instrument) at a level consistent with four years prior study. Lessons in the Itinerant scheme or a pre-approved private Music teacher must be taken for the duration of this course. Level 2 NCEA Music is required. All students must be members of a school Music performance group.

Number of credits that can be used for overall endorsement: 46
Only students engaged in learning and achievement derived from Te Marautanga o Aotearoa are eligible to be awarded these subjects as part of the requirement for 14 credits in each of three subjects.
