Level 2 Physical Education
Course Description
Teacher in Charge: Hannah Tapara.
Each student will be offered the opportunity to gain up to 18 credits in a combination of practical and theory based achievement standards.
The aim of this course is to deepen student understanding across a range of topics, with a strong emphasis on learning through participation in a variety of physical activities and participation in theoretical lessons. Topics that students will learn about include: social responsibility, risk management, exercise physiology, principles and methods of training, practical performance and analysing the impact of sporting events.
Throughout the year students will engage in a range of localised trips and activities including Rock Climbing, laser tag, Tough Guy Tough Girl challenge, fitness experiences at local gyms and a mini sport competition with other local schools.
Pre-requisites
Students must have demonstrated a satisfactory level of achievement in Level 1 Physical Education, obtaining at least 10 credits and have a history of positive participation in PE programmes. Or, students should have Level 1 Literacy and proven academic ability.
Entry is at the discretion of the Leader of Learning.
