Level 3 Health
Course Description
Each student will be offered the opportunity to gain up to 19 credits across both internal and external achievement standards and students can work towards gaining UE accreditation.
The aim of this course is to deepen students understanding of broader societal Health issues and the underlying concepts that underpin the PE and Health curriculum. They will learn through discussion, participation, research and investigation. Students will need to make extensive use of established and evidence based bodies of knowledge when researching each unit of work.
Level 3 Health requires students to think critically about their environment, societal issues and the influences on the wellbeing of communities and populations. Throughout the year students will be encouraged to consider different perspectives and may often debate differing sides of issues.
Topics that are covered across Level 3 Health are health issues within NZ, health practices currently used within NZ, ethical issues and dilemmas around recognised health issues and analysing an international health issue.
