Level 1 Physical Education
Course Description
Teacher in Charge: Hannah Tapara.
Each student will be offered the opportunity to gain up to 15 credits in Level 1 Physical Education across both internal and external achievement standards.
The aim of this course is to give students a broad foundation of knowledge in multiple topics relating to Physical Education through both theory and practical lessons.
Students will learn about how movement affects themselves and others, understand factors that affect participation, interpersonal skills and the strategies needed when working together, strategies to improve performance in a Net Games movement context and how being physically active improves wellbeing.
Level 1 PE students will engage in a range of localised trips and activities throughout the year including a camp, a rogaine or orienteering activity, group ABL whanaungatanga games and fitness experiences at local gyms and facilities.
Pre-requisites
It is expected that students taking this course will have demonstrated a positive attitude, satisfactory skill level and an established history of regular participation in the Junior Physical Education programme.
Entry is at the discretion of the Leader of Learning.
