This course prepares students for a future in the Tourism industry. Possible careers in the Tourism industry include travel agent, flight attendant, cruise ship staff, tour guide and adventure guide, to name a few. Studying Tourism also supports careers in hospitality, public relations, retail and recreation. Students study unit standards through New Zealand School of Tourism. These focus on destination specific tourist attractions in New Zealand, Australia and the Pacific and also Maaori tourism. Tourism is a good supporting subject for students of Geography, Economics and PE.
