Pre-requisitesThis course is available to all students who have passed Level 1 Practical Art. Experience in Painting will give students the opportunity to make informed choices about the Visual Art disciplines they may wish to continue with in Year 13. This course will lead into Level 3 Painting, Design and Photography.

In this course students will further develop their skills in drawing, painting and mixed media. Students will choose a theme or subject matter of their choice to explore throughout the year. The achievement standards offered in Terms 1 + 2 will provide students with a sound skill base in painting and painting conventions such as; application of paint, using line, tone, colour and compositional conventions. In Term 3 students will continue to develop their ideas by working on a two panel portfolio for external submission. Level 1 Art is recommended for entry to this course but is not essential.

The visual arts are recommended for future careers as an: artist, architect, jeweller, illustrator, landscape designer, graphic designer, photographer, interior designer, art or museum curator, set designer, special effect designer, video and animation designer, advertising and marketing, signwriting, makeup and beauty and much more.
