Pre-requisitesStudents must have demonstrated a satisfactory level of achievement in Level 2 Physical Education, obtaining at least 10 credits and have a history of positive participation in PE programmes. Or, students should have achieved Level 2 English or have a proven academic ability.
Entry is at the discretion of the Leader of Learning.
Each student will be offered the opportunity to gain up to 15 credits in a combination of practical and theory based achievement standards and students can work towards gaining UE accreditation.
The aim of this course is to develop students' abilities to analyse and critically evaluate a range of topics within Physical Education. This is achieved through a combination of theory and practical lessons. Topics that students will learn about include: risk and safety management, lifelong participation in physical activity, practical performance and anaylse issues in sport in relation to society.
Throughout the year students will have the opportunity to participate in a range of localised trips and activities which include whitewater rafting, leap, Tough Guy Tough Girl challenge and a mini sport competition with other local schools.
