The Gateway programme enables Year 12 and 13 students to access workplace learning, integrated with school-based learning around work-ready skills. Students work closely with the Gateway coordinator to gain an understanding of the workforce by completing a placement in their area of interest and developing an understanding of their values, qualities and skills.
Gateway has 2 main parts:
1. A work placement based on the individual student's interests and possible career pathway.
2. Classes at school looking at work-ready skills, including learning about career pathway planning (e.g. CV writing and interview skills), communication and interpersonal skills, employment rights etc.
Students will also complete a First Aid course and Health and Safety course with an outside provider to gain the relevant certificate.
